A Die-Linked Sequence
Amazingly, the following group of four die-linked coins, sharing three obverse dies and two reverse dies, is the longest such sequence I know of in the entire Dacian imitatative coinage. Finding additional examples of any of these matched dies, or of either of the two unmatched obverse dies, from a source or sources other than this single hoard, would be extremely helpful.
M336+. Types of L. Papius, after 79 BC; cf. Cr-384/1, 3.73g, serrate. Both sides stylized, obverse much more so; no obverse legend; blundered, recognizable reverse legend. Obverse die O1, reverse die R1 in sequence.
M337+. Various obverse prototypes, reverse type of L. Papius, after 79 BC; cf. Cr-384/1 (R), 3.38g. Both sides somewhat stylized; no obverse legend other than X before and behind Roma; reverse legend as above. Obverse die O2, reverse die R1 in sequence.
M338+. Various obverse and reverse prototypes, after 79 BC; 3.07g. Obverse as above; reverse quite stylized, with blundered, meaningless legend. Obverse die O2, reverse die R2 in sequence.
M339+. Various prototypes, after 79 BC; 3.83g. Obverse quite stylized, with no legend other than X; reverse as above. Obverse die O3, reverse die R2 in sequence.
